Classic Spaghetti and Meatballs

Ingredients

For the Meatballs

• ⅓ cup Italian-seasoned bread crumbs
• 2 Tbsp milk
• 1 Tbsp olive oil
• ½ medium white onion, finely diced
• 8 oz. ground beef
• 8 oz. ground pork
• 1 large egg, lightly beaten
• 2 Tbsp fresh Italian parsley, minced
• 1 tsp garlic, minced
• ½ tsp salt
• ½ tsp black pepper
• ½ tsp dried oregano
• ¼ tsp red pepper flakes
• 2 Tbsp Parmesan cheese, grated
• 1 (16-oz.) box spaghetti

For the Sauce

• 2 Tbsp olive oil
• 1 medium white onion, diced
• 2 tsp garlic, minced
• 1 (28-oz.) can crushed tomatoes
• 1½ Tbsp fresh parsley, minced
• ¾ tsp salt
• ½ tsp black pepper
• {optional garnish} additional fresh parsley, minced
• {optional garnish} Parmesan cheese, grated

Instructions

For the Meatballs

1. Preheat oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper; set aside.
2. Using a medium bowl, combine the bread crumbs and milk; let soak for 5 minutes.
3. Meanwhile, add the olive oil to a medium frying pan and place over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the diced onions and cook for 6-7 minutes, or until onions begin to soften.
